Minister For Coal And Mines Launches 6th Tranche Of Critical Minerals Block
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy launched the 6th tranche of critical minerals block auction at the seminar on the Center of Excellence under the National Critical Mission in Hyderabad on 16th September 2025.
The 6th tranche of auction comprises 23 blocks spread across Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, and includes 19 Composite Licence (CL) and 4 Mining Licence (ML). The blocks host minerals crucial for clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and strategic sectors. Some the key minerals that are hosted in these blocks are Rare Earth Elements (REE), Niobium, Tantalum, Caesium, Tungsten, Lithium, Tin, Graphite, Vanadium, Cobalt, Titanium, Gallium, Zirconium, Rock Phosphate, Potash, and other rare metals.
The Ministry will start the sale of tender documents on 23rd September 2025 and end it on 24th September 2025. The last date for the submission of tender is 1st December 2025.
The seminar also marked successful conclusion of India’s first auction of Exploration Licences (EL) for deep-seated minerals like Lithium, Copper, Gold, and Rare Earth Minerals in which, seven of the thirteen blocks advanced to the second round. Mr Reddy also announced the Preferred Bidders for the 1st tranche of Exploration Licence (EL) blocks and facilitated interactions with stakeholders.
Ministry of Coal and Mines has so far completed auctions of five tranches covering 55 blocks of which, 35 have been successfully auctioned so far. A press release by the Ministry said that revenue generated from these auctions will accrue to the respective State Governments.
