Ministry Of Power To Launch Cleanliness Drive From Oct 2
The Ministry of Power (MoP) will be launching a cleanliness drive that will see reviewing and disposal of files, public grievances. This is part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign that aims to institutionalize cleanliness in workplaces and minimize pendency in government offices. The Special Campaign 5.0, as it is also called, will run from 2nd October and conclude on 31st October 2025.
MoP said in a press release that between December 2024 and August 2025, it had weeded out 20,404 files out of the 24,370 it reviewed. In addition to these, 4,881 public grievances and associated 436 appeals, 324 MP and State Government References were also disposed off. Over 200 cleanliness drives by the ministry also freed up 43,579 sq ft of space, and earned ₹483.63 lakh.
These efforts have created a healthier workplace environment, better record management and contributed to better space management and revenue generation, a press release by the ministry said.
Preparations for the Special Campaign 5.0 started on 15th September 2025 and will continue till 30th September 2025, before it begins on October 2nd. The preparations for the same have involved identifying pendency in select parameters, mobilizing the ground functionaries, finalizing campaign sites, reviewing records, undertaking space management planning, and identifying scrap material for disposal.
Special Campaign 5.0 will run on the lines of similar campaigns run by the government in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Since its inception, the campaigned has earned the government ₹3220.04 crore in scrap disposal, and 137.12 lakh files have been weeded out or closed.
