Union Minister Announces Four Hydrogen Valleys Development

Union Minister for State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh on 12 November 2025 announced the development of four Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters (HVICs) across the country at a total investment of ₹485 crore.

Dr. Singh made the announcement while speaking at the 3rd International Conference on Green Hydrogen in New Delhi. He said the hydrogen valleys will demonstrate the full hydrogen value chain, from production to storage to transport and utilization.

The HVICs, conceptualized by Department of Science and Technology (DST) and now integrated under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE’s) National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), are designed to showcase India’s first large-scale hydrogen demonstration projects and serve as living laboratories for innovation, standardization, and policy development, said the Minister.

While ₹169.89 has been invested under NGHM, the remaining ₹315.43 crore will come from industry and consortium.

Dr Singh said that clean energy is an economic, technological and strategic imperative for the nation’s growth rather than an environmental choice. He added that India today is a key part of the global transition to a self-reliant hydrogen economy. India’s clean energy transformation is being driven by a collaborative model bringing together government, industry, and academia to build sustainable solutions for the future. “India will not merely adopt clean technologies — we will invent them, lead them, and ignite the world with our vision and grit,” he said.
