Power Minister Chairs Meeting On HVDC
Union Minister of Power ML Khattar chaired a meeting on high voltage direct current (HVDC) at the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The meeting focussed on HVDC technology and the development of an indigenous supply chain.
The discussions in the meeting focused on adopting HVDC for long-distance transmissions, the focus being on developing the technology in-house to promote self-reliance in transmission capabilities.
Writing about the meeting on social media site X, Mr. Khattar said that detailed discussions were held on implementation of HVDC. He wrote that not only was HVDC technology energy-efficient and cost-effective, it can efficiently transmit renewable energy from resource rich states to the rest of the country. It will speed up green energy transmission and we will move firmly towards being an energy-sufficient nation.
Mr. Khattar added that the technology will play an important in PM Modi’s ‘One Sun, One Nation, One Grid’ initiative.
