Tata Opens 16-Car EV MegaCharge Hub On World EV Day

Tata Power, part of the Tata Group, on 9 September 2025 inaugurate an EV charging hub in Mumbai that can charge 16 EVs simultaneously under the company’s TATAev MegaCharger initiative.

The MegaCharger was jointly inaugurated on World EV Day by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power and Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.

The MegaCharger facility can simultaneously charge 16 EVs from eight DC chargers with speeds upto 120kW, making it one of the city’s largest EV charging station.

The charging hub was inaugurated near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, in the premises of The Leela Mumbai. The MegaCharger will cater to Mumbai’s business and tourist footfalls, from private cars to taxis, ride-hailing fleets and logistics operators.

The TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative is a collaboration between two Tata Group entities, Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. It’s chargers are open to all EV vehicles, with Tata.ev vehicles getting exclusive benefits such as discounts and priority access.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO&MD, Tata Power said, “The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we roll out similar hubs in major cities, Tata Power remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering clean energy solutions and accelerating large-scale EV adoption across the country.”
