Coal India Signs MoU To Light Up Howrah Bridge With Solar-Powered Illumination
Coal Maharatna Coal India Limited (CIL) announced on Wednesday 10th June that it has signed an MoU with Kolkata’s Shayama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMPK) for illuminating the iconic Howrah Bridge with solar power, the world’s seventh largest cantilever bridge.
The MoU was signed that Coal India Ltd’s corporate office CIL Chairman PM Prasad, SMPK Chairman Rathendra Rathore, Deputy Chairman Samrat Rahi and other officials.
The work involves highlighting the structure of Howrah Bridge, also known as Rabindra Setu, using dynamic lighting. The plan also includes volumetric and skeleton lighting along with synchronised music shows.
Commenting on the project, Mr Rahi said, “This project is a significant upgrade over the existing illumination, which has been in place for years. The tendering process is underway, and we expect completing within a year.”
