India, Mongolia plan cooperation in renewable energy

Narendra_ModiIndia and Mongolia have signed an MoU to assist each other in developing new and renewable energy tehcnologies in solar and wind energy. The MoU was signed between India’s Ministry of New and Renewable energy (MNRE) and Mongolia’s Ministry of Energy and is one of the fourteen signed between the two countries during PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Mongolia.

Under this MoU, both countries will assist each other in developing their renewable energy capabilities through exchange of information and personnel, transfer of equipment and know-how, development of joint research or technical projects, determination of renewable energy resources, etc.

Both nations have signed similar agreements earlier, and the latest is seen as a continuation of the same.

Both nations are keen to develop their renewable energy potentials. While India aims to generate 175 GW of power through renewable energy by 2022, Mongolia plans to generate 20-25 percent of its energy needs through renewable energy.
