NLC Highlights Company’s Water Conservation Initiatives
NLC India Limited, a Navratna company under the Ministry of Coal, participated in a one-day workshop titled “Water Challenges in the Anthropocene: Towards Resilience and Sustainability” at the IIT Madras on February 8. The event was organized in collaboration with The Art of Living, AquaMap, and the International Association of Human Values (IAHV).
At the workshop, the lignite mining and power generation company made a presentation titled “Mining With Responsibility: NLCIL’s Community Water Support Initiatives”. The Presentation was made by Dr Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) & Director (P&P) AC, NLCIL.
In his presentation, Dr Suman highighted NLCIL’s innovative practices in water resource management, including sustainable mining operations that prioritize water conservation, effective utilization, and augmentation of community water supplies.
He emphasized the company’s commitment to responsible mining practices, focusing on environmental sustainability and enhancing the quality of life in surrounding communities.
The workshop served as an excellent platform for exchanging ideas and showcasing actionable strategies that reinforce the critical role of sustainable practices in addressing contemporary water challenges.
