ONGC Onboards BP India For Its Western Offshore Fields

State-run oil major ONGC announced on May 25, 2026 that it has onboarded BP Exploration Services India Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of British energy major BP as its technical services provider (TSP) for its remaining western offshore fields in the Arabian sea. This move brings its entire western offshore portfolio under the TSP framework.
The western offshore fields account for account for nearly 62% of the western offshore production. In January last year, ONGC had onboarded BP for the rejuvenation of its Mumbai High field, which itself contributes approximately 38% of total western offshore production.
As TSP for the western offshore fields, BP will bring its global technologies and management practices to study mature offshore fields for operational improvements and resorcior performance.
This onboarding by ONGC is expected to drive crude oil production up by approximately 10.8% and nearly 31.5% increase in the production of gas. Overall, the oil plue oil-equivalent gas (O+OEG) will see a nearly 24% growth.
The Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) welcomed the onboarding by ONGC, saying that the move is expected to unlock substantial growth in crude oil and gas production, reinforcing India’s journey towards a resilient, secure and future-ready energy ecosystem.
