Patel Engineering Emerges Lowest Bidder For Lower Arun Hydropower Project

Patel Engineering has emerged at the lowest bidder (L1) 1for package 2 of the 669 MW Lower Arun Hydropower Project in Nepal. The project, awarded by SJVN Lower Arun Development Company Pvt Ltd, is valued at ₹1,593.08 crore and is slated for completion in 54 months.

The scope of the project will include construction of key infrastructures such as additionally driven intermediate tunnels (Adit) 5 & 6, part of the headrace tunnel, surge shafts and the pressure shaft, along with the butterfly valve chamber and access adit, as well as a powerhouse. In addition to these, the company will also be responsible for associated systems such as the switchyard, surface pothead yard, and tailrace channel. The scope further covers the installation of steel liners and draft tube gates and hoists, along with the development of access roads and supporting infrastructure.

The company posted on social media website LinkedIn that the development marked a significant step in strengthening of their footprint and reinforced their continued focus on delivering complex hydropower infrastructure across diverse geographies.

Commenting on the development, Kavita Shirvaikar, Managing Director, Patel Engineering, said, “We began Q1 FY27 on a positive note, having been declared L1 for this important order of approximately Rs 1,600 crore. Nepal holds immense hydroelectric potential, and the Lower Arun project is a significant step toward harnessing that energy for sustainable growth.”
