Two Blocks Of Potash Among 10 Mineral Blocks Auctioned By Coal Ministry
Coal Ministry completed the tranche V of critical and strategic mineral blocks with 10 out of 15 blocks being put on auction. The auctions, which were launched on 28th January, have seen 34 blocks being auctions by the Central Government.
The 10 blocks auctioned on 28th January comprised critical and strategic minerals like graphite, phosphorite, phosphate, Rare Earth Elements (REE), Vanadium, and potash and Halite, which were auctioned for the first time. The blocks are spread across Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
A key milestone under tranche V is the first-ever successful auction of a Potash block by the Government of India, marking a major step towards unlocking domestic Potash resources. The move is expected to catalyze Potash mining in the country, reduce reliance on imports, and strengthen support to the agriculture sector. This milestone also marks the first-ever successful auction of a critical & strategic mineral block in the State of Rajasthan.
Till date a total of 34 blocks have been successfully auction in 5 tranches out of 55 critical mineral blocks which were put for auction.
In addition to the auctioning of blocks, the Ministry of Mines also launched the National Critical Mineral Mission for development of critical mineral ecosystem in the country.
